#WorkMustPay activists held a picket outside Phillips Workwear yesterday on Capel Street, Dublin 2, after having contacted the shop requesting them to remove their Jobbridge ad for Retail Assistant. The picket was a resounding success with written confirmation provided that the shop will be removing the advertised Jobbridge position. #WorkMustPay can confirm that it has been removed from the Jobbridge website (see copy below).
The team stayed on the ground for about an hour during which time there was a very positive response to leafleting and a huge showing of support from passer bys and those driving down the street. The Gardai appeared briefly but the campaign had a legal right to protest and was not blocking the shop entrance or the footpath.
#WorkMustPay demand and end to Jobbridge, an end to free labour schemes and an end to the exploitation of workers, young and old. We call on activists to join in our campaign and demand that work pays a living wage! Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to be notified of future pickets.
