Friday, the 7th of August, #WorkMustPay returned to celebrations Party Shop. Last week we had been greeted by verbal and physical harassment so in order to show that the campaign will not be cowed and to remove the original Jobbridge advert, we returned.
Connolly Youth Movement members from Cork and Belfast in a showing of solidarity attended along with members from CWU youth, Mandate and the Workers Party, as well as the usual suspects of Unite youth Dublin and CYM Dublin.
This demo was by far the largest protest to date and ended in victory with the ad being removed. Trade Union TV and Connolly Media Group filmed the event, both which tell a better story that any write up could. The campaign has gotten a lot of attention since so check out our new Press Coverage page with links to articles and interviews.
#WorkMustPay demands an end to JobBridge, an end to free labour schemes and an end to the exploitation of workers, young and old. We call on activists to join in our campaign and demand that work pays a living wage! Please contact us firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to be notified of future pickets.
