On the 4th of September #WorkMustPay protested out at the City Electrical Factors on Middle Abbey Street. They were advertising for a Warehouse assistant, nine months unpaid training for this type of position is doubly insulting as it is a very labour intensive job. With no legal protections in place for interns be it surrounding conditions or health and safety we couldn’t let this stand. This was not the company’s first Jobbridge ad either. We had previously sent out a warning email but received no satisfactory reply so we took our protest to the street. We also filmed a short clip which you can find on our youtube channel and further down.
#WorkMustPay demands an end to JobBridge, an end to free labour schemes and an end to the exploitation of workers, young and old. We call on activists to join in our campaign and demand that work pays a living wage! Please contact us at email@example.com if you would like to be notified of future pickets.
